Day 1 - Building a Septic System Takes a TeamA septic system isn't "just a tank in the ground." It's the result of many professionals working together to protect your family's health, your property, and the environment. From the manufacturer who builds the tank, to the designer who evaluates your property, the installer who follows detailed construction requirements, the inspector who verifies the work, and the maintenance professional who keeps it operating safely—every step matters. As the homeowner, you're the final link in that chain by maintaining and monitoring your system. The Ontario Building Code isn't full of requirements just to make installation more complicated. Every specification—from tank placement and soil evaluation to secure lids and safety screens—exists for one reason: to protect human health and prevent tragedies. When every professional follows the Code, and every homeowner does their part, septic systems remain safe, reliable, and effective for years to come.Remember: Every requirement has a purpose. Every step protects someone.Protect what matters most. Choose qualified professionals, maintain your system regularly, and never overlook the safety features that help keep your family and community safe.#SepticSafety #SepticAwarenessWeek2026

Respect for Municipal Election SignsAs the 2026 Municipal Election campaign continues, the Township of Perry reminds residents and candidates of the importance of respecting election signs and private property.Where an election sign has been placed on private property with the property owner's permission, members of the public are asked not to remove, damage, deface, relocate or otherwise interfere with the sign without authorization.Candidates are reminded to obtain written permission from the property owner before placing an election sign on private property. If a candidate discovers that an election sign is missing, they are encouraged to first confirm with the property owner that the sign was not removed or relocated by the owner or someone acting with their authorization. Where there is reason to believe that a sign has been stolen or intentionally damaged, the matter may be reported to the Ontario Provincial Police. The Township of Perry remains neutral throughout the municipal election process and does not endorse or support any candidate. This reminder applies equally to all candidates participating in the 2026 Municipal Election. The Township appreciates everyone's cooperation in helping to maintain a respectful, fair and positive municipal election campaign.
